History of Council

HISTORY

The foundation for the local council system was laid with the local autonomy act proclaimed on April 6, 1988 with a view to implementing local autonomy, which was followed by the election of the members of the local council on March 26, 1991, and the first Gangdong-gu Council was formed on April 15, 1991.

The 8th Gangdong-gu Council that was launched with support and anticipation from Gangdong-gu residents will fulfill its duty to keep the executive branch in check, especially their policies and projects; do our utmost to build a people-centric city; and form a green environment-friendly city to make Gangdong-gu the most desirable place to live for anyone.

The Gangdong-gu Council will establish itself as a council that implements hope-instilling and reliable policies and that connects with people, and at the same time the Council will do its utmost to become an exemplary and leading council through dynamic and creative council activities.
