Roles and Responsibilities of the Council
- Executive Agency
- Giving notice on confirmation of the deliberation on proposals/billsincluding ordinances, making a report, summoning relevant figures, requesting for submission/reconsideration of proposals/bills including ordinances, and calling for a meeting
- Council
- Inspecting and investigating administrative work, enacting/revising/abolishingordinances, deliberating on/confirming/approving budget and accounts, and receiving and dealing with petitions
- Residents
- Election, filing a petition, and giving notice on the results of the handling of a petition
A local council takes part in implementing policies with its voting right on enacting or revising ordinances, deliberating on and confirming budget plans, approving settlement of accounts, and agreeing to or approving important matters; and has control over the administrative execution by the executive agency through the inspection and investigation of administrative work. Besides, a local council receives petitions and deals with the matters within its authority pursuant to the laws and ordinances.
