History of Council

HISTORY

With the promulgation of the Local Autonomy Act on April 6, 1988, the local council system was established; local council elections were held on March 26, 1991, and the first Gangdong-gu Council was formed on April 15, 1991.

Now newly launched amid the expectations and support of Gangdong’s 500,000 residents, the 10th Gangdong-gu Council will faithfully carry out its role of oversight and checks on the executive branch’s policies and projects, and build a Gangdong to be proud of, guided by fairness and innovation, responsibility and integrity, communication and unity, and autonomy and creativity.

The Gangdong-gu Council will be reborn as a council of policy and communication that gives residents confidence and hope, and we will devote every effort to becoming a Gangdong-gu Council that leads local councils through dynamic and creative legislative activities.
